Reverend Dr. Stanley Rivers was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina to the late Hercules and Pernell Rivers. He attended the public schools of Calhoun County.
Reverend Dr. Rivers received his Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics from South Carolina State University. He furthered his studies at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West S.C. He continued to pursue his studies and attended Hood Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity Degree.
Reverend Dr. Rivers was ordained in 1994 under the leadership of Bishop John Hurst Adams. He has been a pastor in the
A.M.E church for over 20 years. He has pastored in the Newberry Spartanburg District, the Orangeburg District and the Lancaster District of the Columbia Conference of the Seventh Episcopal District.
Reverend Dr. Rivers previously served on the board of the United Way of the Midlands and Chairs the Sandy Run Elementary School Advisory Council. He currently serves as Board Chair for Calhoun County First Steps.
He is married to Sheila D. Rivers and they are the proud parents of 3 ; Shayla, Shamar and Shaun.
His favorite scripture is Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain, faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (I Corinthians 13:13). He is a child of God.
